Sneha Mantri, MD, MS, FAAN

As the Parkinson’s Foundation first-ever Chief Medical Officer, Sneha Mantri, MD, MS, leads medical and clinical care efforts, guiding the Foundation’s care portfolio and strategy to ensure impactful, sustainable initiatives. Dr. Mantri is a practicing movement disorders specialist with extensive training and experience. As a seasoned principal investigator of health equity studies and clinical trials, Dr. Mantri has successfully communicated complex findings to diverse members of the PD community. She has developed educational courses for future medical health professionals and currently leads narrative medicine workshops for patients. Dr. Mantri has been published in multiple leading journals including npj Parkinson’s Disease, Parkinsonism & Related Disorders, JAMA Network Open, The Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease, and ScienceDirect among others. Since 2018, she has served as Duke University faculty. She continues to see patients on a limited schedule at the Duke Movement Disorders Center.

Nicholas Thalken, DO

Nicholas Thalken, DO, is a board-certified emergency medicine physician currently serving full-time at the Omaha VA Medical Center and part-time at Methodist Fremont Health. He also serves as a physician in the Nebraska Army National Guard. Since his diagnosis with Parkinson’s disease in 2019, Dr. Thalken has become an advocate for improving hospital safety and patient care for individuals living with Parkinson’s. His unique perspective bridges clinical expertise and personal experience with the condition.


Annie Brooks, MSW

Annie Brooks, MSW serves as the Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives at the Parkinson’s Foundation. Annie provides leadership and day-to-day management of Foundation priority programs including the Hospital Care Initiative. Her current portfolio of work includes managing numerous research collaborations related to improving hospital care and directing the Parkinson’s Foundation Hospital Care Learning Collaborative, a peer-learning group that brings together health systems, hospitals, and emergency departments who are working in their institutions to implement quality improvement projects focused on improving hospital safety for people with PD. Annie also works closely with colleagues across the foundation to support community programs and resources including the Newly Diagnosed Guide and the Hospital Safety Guide. After completing her Master of Social Work with a focus in Community and Social Justice from The Ohio State University and her Bachelor of Social Work from Florida State University, Annie joined the Parkinson’s Foundation in 2015.

Maggie Ivancic, MSW, LCSW

Maggie Ivancic, MSW, LCSW is the clinical social worker and center coordinator for the Parkinson’s Foundation Center of Excellence at UNC-Chapel Hill’s Movement Disorders Center. She facilitates support groups for people with Parkinson’s Disease, PSP & CBS/CBD, MSA, and deep brain stimulation. She coordinates two specialty interdisciplinary clinics for people with Parkinson’s disease and atypical parkinsonism. She enjoys participating in both clinical and research efforts to improve patient and care partner quality of life and is actively involved in the implementation of improving hospital care for people with Parkinson’s disease at her center. She also spends her time developing community education programs, improving outreach, and providing advocacy for her patients. Prior to joining the UNC-Chapel Hill Movement Disorders Team in 2021, Maggie worked as a hospice social worker.
