
Parkinson’s Foundation Team Training is an intensive course designed by the Parkinson’s Foundation to increase knowledge about Parkinson’s disease (PD) and build capacity for comprehensive interprofessional, patient-centered care in the treatment of PD throughout the progression of the disease. Team Training for Parkinson’s provides participating health professionals with a unique opportunity to build a strong network as they are trained to deliver the best Parkinson’s care on both a national and regional level, including rural areas in need of a network of care.

What is Team Training?
The Parkinson's Foundation Team Training is a 3-day in-person program designed for healthcare professionals working in the PD community to improve Parkinson’s care. The program incorporates the latest research and treatments to strengthen comprehensive, interprofessional, and patient-centered care throughout the continuum of the disease by increasing knowledge, communication, and collaboration among the Parkinson’s care team.
Target Audience
The course is intended for health professionals involved in all aspects of caring for people with PD, their care partners, and families who are seeking further education about care challenges and management of PD. Qualified health professionals include physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, occupational therapists, social workers, psychologists, and speech-language pathologists.

Advanced Team Training is a 2-day in-person program designed exclusively for Team Training alumni and presented each fall immediately following Team Training. The advanced program provides a deeper focus on a specific PD topic, looking through the lens of the different disciplines of the team to address the challenges of that topic. Topics are selected each year based on attendee feedback, identifying the areas they find most challenging when caring for people living with Parkinson’s.
