Fay Horak, PhD, PT
Fay Horak is the Scientific Advisor for the Balance Disorders Laboratory at Oregon Health and Science University, and she is a Jay Nutt MD Endowed Professor of Neurology and Adjunct Professor of Behavioral Neuroscience & Biomedical Engineering at OHSU. Dr. Horak earned a physical therapy degree from the University of Wisconsin, MS in Neurophysiology from the University of Minnesota, and PhD in Physiology and Biophysics from the University of Washington in Seattle. She is the first physical therapist to receive a MERIT Award from NIH, and she has over 250 peer-reviewed publications on brain control of balance and gait and rehabilitation of mobility disability in people with Parkinson's disease. Dr. Horak notably developed the BESTest and MiniBESTest for assessing balance, functional mobility, and gait.
