Virtual Team Training - Fall 2023
Team Training Virtual is a semester long, self-paced virtual course offered each fall season (August - October).
The training culminates in a required series of four live virtual group learning sessions over a course of four half-days. Team Training Virtual includes Continuing Education credit for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, PTs, OTs, SLPs, social workers, and psychologists.
The syllabus below provides an overview of the course as well as expected time it will take to complete each lesson. Release dates for each lesson vary - lessons will become automatically available on their start date.

Learning Objectives
At the end of this activity, learners will be able to:
Identify key strategies for challenges associated with Parkinson’s and side effects of PD medications.
Establish skills to support a person with Parkinson’s and their care partners in improving self-management.
Discuss key characteristics of early, middle, and late-stage Parkinson’s disease.
Explain interprofessional healthcare team members’ care coordination in the management in Parkinson's disease and potential impact on quality of life of people with Parkinson's and care partners.
Describe the unique and complementary roles of each profession in the interprofessional team and how to work collaboratively to improve patient care.
Parkinson’s Foundation adheres to the ACCME’s Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education. In support of improving patient care, Parkinson's Foundation is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 31.5 Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credit for learning and change.
Physicians
Parkinson’s Foundation designates this blended activity for a maximum of 31.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Nurses
Parkinson’s Foundation has been authorized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to award CNE credit. This activity is designated for 31.5 CNE credits. Participants should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.
Physician Assistants
Parkinson’s Foundation has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 31.5 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. Approval valid through January 3rd, 2026. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent.
Psychologists
Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). The APA CEP Office maintains responsibility for the content of the programs. 31.5 CE hours.
Social Workers
As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Parkinson’s Foundation is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Parkinson’s Foundation maintains responsibility for this course. Social workers completing this course receive 31.5 ASWB credits continuing education credits.
Speech Pathologists
LSVT Global is approved by the Continuing Education Board of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) to provide continuing education activities in speech-language pathology and audiology. This course is offered for up to 31.5 continuing maintenance hours.
This event is offered for up to 3.15 ASHA CEUs (Advanced level; Professional area).
Physical Therapists:
This course has been approved by California Education Connection (CEC) Continuing Education. This activity has meets the requirements set by the Physical Therapy Board of California
