Michiko Bruno, MD
Dr. Michiko Kimura Bruno earned her medical degree from Kyoto University Medical School in Japan in 1996. She completed her Neurology Residency at Weill-Cornell University New York Presbyterian Hospital Program in New York, NY in 2002 and completed a Movement Disorder Fellowship at Human Motor Control Section, NINDS, NIH in Bethesda Maryland in 2004.
After her fellowship, she moved to Honolulu, Hawaii and have been in private practice for over 15 years. She joined the Queens Medical Center in 2020 to build the first Parkinson’s disease and Movement Disorder Center for the state. Under her leadership, The Movement Disorder Center received designation as Hawaii’s first Parkinson’s Foundation’s “Comprehensive Care Center” and Cure PSP Center of Care in 2022. The Center received Hawaii State’s “Grant-in-Aid (GIA) Grant” to start a Movement Disorder Fellowship in 2023. She holds an academic appointment at John A. Burns Medical School at University of Hawaii as an associate clinical professor. Her research interest is to identify and decrease the health and access disparities in the community. In 2021, she was awarded “Promoting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Parkinson’s Disease Research” grant by Michael J. Fox Foundation (RA-2021-040) to study this topic.
