Advanced Team Training 2023
This course is presented exclusively for Team Training (or ATTP) alumni.
The Advanced Team Training course is a 2-day, on-site course designed by the Parkinson's Foundation to increase knowledge about mental health in Parkinson’s disease. The goal of this course is to assist health professionals in building their capacity to provide comprehensive, interprofessional care, and team management strategies for mental health challenges in Parkinson’s across the continuum of the disease.
We expect this to be a highly informative training experience. You will have opportunities for interactive learning with other disciplines and a chance to gain practical applied knowledge both in the assessment and treatment of Parkinson's disease and in team development strategies.
Trainees are responsible for their own travel, transportation, hotel arrangements, and non-conference food.
Parkinson's Foundation Advanced Team Training has online and LIVE portions. The online pre-requisite course will be approximately 2 hours long. The live days will take place in Chicago, IL on August 17, 2023 and August 18, 2023 from 8:00am - 5:00pm EST. You must complete the online pre-requisite material and the live days in their entirety to successfully pass this course.

Target Audience
The course is intended for health professionals involved in all aspects of caring for people with PD and their families who are seeking further education about care challenges and management of PD. Qualified health professionals include nurses, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, occupational therapists, social workers, physicians, physician assistants, psychologists, and speech-language pathologists.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the presentation, the learner will:
- Identify key strategies in addressing mental health challenges associated with Parkinson’s and side effects of PD medications.
- Evaluate how to support a person with Parkinson’s and their care partners in self-management of mental health.
- List key characteristics of mental health challenges in Parkinson’s disease and how to support wellness in patients and care partners.
- Explain interprofessional healthcare team members care coordination in the management of mental health challenges in Parkinson's disease.
- Describe the unique and complementary roles of each profession in the interprofessional team when addressing mental health challenges associated with Parkinson's disease.
Live Day Times:
8:00 am on Thursday morning and will end on Friday at 5:00 pm.
The last segment of the training includes developing a personal plan on how to implement this training into your own practice and/or team. If traveling by air, please plan your departure on Friday (8 pm or later).

This activity is designated for 16.00 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. Approval valid through August 18, 2026. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent.
Psychologists
Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). The APA CEP Office maintains responsibility for the content of the programs. 16.00 CE hours.
Social Workers
As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Parkinson’s Foundation is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Parkinson’s Foundation maintains responsibility for this course. Social workers completing this course receive 16.00 ASWB credits continuing education credits.
Occupational Therapists
This course has been approved for 16.00 continuing education hours for occupational therapy practitioners by the Illinois Occupational Therapy Association.
