Neuropsychology and Physical Therapy are integral components of a Parkinson’s disease care team.

A neuropsychological report provides a vast amount of information regarding the cognitive and behavioral functioning of persons with Parkinson’s and can be used to optimize patient care across members of a multidisciplinary care team. The relevance of neuropsychological results is discussed with clinical insight from the perspective of Physical Therapy.

    At the end of the presentation, the learner will be able to:

    • Recognize the role of Neuropsychologists as part of the care team for persons with Parkinson’s disease (PD);
    • Describe the components of and rationale for neuropsychological assessments and physical therapy evaluations in PD; and
    • Identify the clinical relevance of the cognitive and mood findings for physical therapy (and other) treatment team providers.
